Thanks to a MOTL member from Russia, I'll soon have a Russian 9E Foil stonie and a signed beta stonie. Yay!
Things are getting quiet with the leads... I may need to send out a new set of feelers soon. I'm also scheduled to do followups later today on six leads:
- (1/30) A member of the Magic Library Forum posted that he was going to check to see if he had any counterfeit 8th Edition Stone Rains. (Not really part of the global set, but if I can get one, that would be great!)
- (1/30) A person contacted me from Portugal asking if he could help. I responded right away but HHBS (haven't heard back since).
- (1/29) An eBay feeler put me in touch with someone in Italy who liked the SRP and expressed enthusiasm at helping. HHBS.
- (1/29) Another member of the Magic Library Forum posted that he could supply French 9E, 9E Foil, CK Foil, Jap 8E, and Russian 9E Foil. Posted asking what he wanted for the cards, but HHBS.
- (1/26) An eBay feeler put me in touch with a collectibles dealer in Beijing who said he would be able to "make a have list" for me soon. HHBS.
- (1/24) An old-donor feeler put me in touch with a card dealer in Spain who said he could "help with some of the Spanish ones." HHBS.
Looking at needs versus leads here's how things shake out:
- Russian: 0 needs, 1 lead (probably will follow through anyway, stuff to trade to other Stone Rain collectors)
- English: 0 leads, 0 needs
- Simp-Chinese: 2 needs, 2 leads (1 strong, 1 weak, multiple cards)
- Portuguese: 4 needs, 2 leads (1 strong, 1 weak, multiple cards)
- French: 3 needs, 1 strong lead for all 3 cards
- Italian: 5 needs, 1 lead (strong, but weakening, multiple cards)
- Spanish: 5 needs, 1 lead (strong, but weakening, multiple cards)
- German: 1 need, 0 leads
- Japanese: 5 needs, 1 lead (strong, but only for 1 card)
By my estimation Japanese is where I am most in trouble right now. I have 4 needs that I don't even have weak leads for. This may require feelers to MOTL members in Japan or a post on Magic Library. Next up, German, no leads at all on the one remaining card I need. Then Italian and Spanish, both involve only a single lead from someone who seemed enthusiastic but from whom I've heard nothing since the initial contact. I'm going to recontact those leads but I need to find some new sources in Italy and Spain (or maybe Mexico?)
